2-D and 3-D representation of the component distribution can help in evaluating the uniformity of tablets.

The picture below shows an example of a commercial tablet - the downward sloping blue line indicates the rapid decrease in the concentration of the Magenisium component in the tablet as one moves away from the surface toward the core. Simultaneously, there is a less gradual increase increase in the Calcium component.
